Samsung launches first of its kind 5G tablet

Samsung has officially launched the world's first 5G compatible tablet – its Galaxy S6 Tab. In an official post, the tech giant says, “The Galaxy Tab S6 5G features 5G mobile communications, a thin bezel 10.5-inch super-amorphous display, AKG’s sound technology, and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, enabling massive streaming games, real-time 4K broadcast streaming, and AR content”.

The 5G device “is exactly the same as the original Tab S6 except for its ability to support the next generation of mobile communications technology”.

The device is currently only available in Korea for now with no word yet on a worldwide release.
Samsung hopes that its 5G devices will help improve the companies earnings as worldwide adoption increases. The Verge reports that the company’s “revenue was more or less flat year-on-year, up 1 percent to 59.9 trillion won ($50.7 billion) while operating profit slid 34 percent to 7.1 trillion won ($6 billion)”. However, Samsung cautions that the actual rate of 5G expansion remains to be seen.
