LEAKED! Upcoming Huawei P40 Pro might have 5 cameras.

The notable tech leaker Evan Blass tweeted an image of what is purportedly Huawei’s upcoming flagship P40 Pro, revealing its ceramic back panel and impressive curves, front glass, as well as not two or three but five rear-view cameras.

Reports have it that the most prominent design feature revealed in the images is the large camera bump that contains five lenses, one of which is a periscope-style telephoto camera. The Leica branding and special details describe the array as covering 18-240mm equivalence, which between the ultrawide and telephoto should amount to more than 13x zoom reach. It’s likely, though, that Huawei is relying on software improvements to arrive at that figure.

Possible names for the unexpected smartphone include Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition, Huawei P40 Pro Ceramic, and Huawei P40 Pro 5G. But regardless of what the Chinese giant chooses to call it, leaked renders make clear that it’ll be the perfect Galaxy S20 Ultra competitor.

The main camera is expected to sport a 52MP 1/1.3” sensor and 16-in-1 Quad Quad Bayer filter. There’s also a 40MP cine camera (1/1.5” sensor), 8MP periscope module with 10x optical zoom and a 3D ToF sensor or a dedicated macro cam.

Huawei recently confirmed plans to announce the P40 series at an event held in Paris at some point in March. The exact date hasn’t yet been confirmed, but Evan Blass says it’ll be Thursday, March 26.
