Google Shopping ads to launch in Nigeria sooner than later

Google, America's multinational technology company, in its commitment to supporting the growth of businesses in Nigeria plans to launch Shopping ads on Google Search in Nigeria very soon.
It is said that shopping Ads will make it easier and faster for shoppers to find and purchase products online, while also improving their transaction experiences.
“We adopted Google Shopping ads because we understand that in today’s world, images resonate more strongly with people than text. Adding images to ads means people can quickly see if the product is what they are searching for and shorten the time they need to make a purchase decision. Since we’ve started using Shopping Ads we’ve seen solid and consistent results that show it’s working for our consumers and helping them get what they need rapidly and easily. We see Shopping ads as a key part of achieving our goal of reinventing the way people access products in this part of the world,” says Nnamdi Ekeh. CEO, Konga group.
Google claims that with Shopping ads, online shoppers will be given a range of product options to choose from and also an opportunity to make educated decisions.
Additionally, shoppers will not just see text ads as they search for products, they will also see photos of the product, price, the title and store name, reviews, and more.
Google Shopping ads, which is now available in 94 other countries, will enable merchants to work with Comparison Shopping Services (CSS), a website that gathers product offers from online retailers and sends users to the retailers’ websites to make a purchase, to advertise their products.
On Google Shopping ads, Google stated that support is made available for advertisers to list their products in multiple languages, while for those who sell and ship products to multiple countries, their product prices will be automatically displayed in the local currency.

Benefits of the shopping Ads

Better qualified leads: As a merchant, you can increase the quality of your leads by featuring product information directly in your ads to help shoppers make informed purchase decisions. This makes shoppers more likely to complete a purchase on your site.

Easy retail-centric campaign management: Instead of keywords, Shopping ads use the product attributes you defined in your Merchant Center data feed to show your ads on relevant searches. Browse your product inventory directly in Google Ads and create product groups for the items you want to bid on.

Broader presence: More than one of your Shopping ads can appear for a given user search and, if relevant, a Shopping ad and a text ad can also appear at the same time. This means your reach with shoppers for a single search could double.

Powerful reporting and competitive data: See how your products are performing at any level of granularity you want. Use benchmarking data to get insights into your competitive landscape. Identify growth opportunities with impression share data and the Bid Simulator tool.

How to create a Google Shopping ad

To create a Google Shopping ad, you’ll need to send Google your product data through the Merchant Center and then create a campaign in Google Ads.
This campaign will be used to create ads on Google and around the web where potential customers can see the products you are selling.

Google Shopping ads will use your existing Merchant Center product data, not the keywords, to decide how and where to show your ads. It will use the data of the product you submitted when signing up to the Merchant Center to match a user’s search to your ads, making sure it shows the most relevant products.
With the impact of smartphone penetration on online commerce in Nigeria, social media/tech platforms are continually looking for more preferable solutions to dominate the mobile market.
Shopping ads are now available in 94 countries and merchants can work with Comparison Shopping Services to advertise their products. One of the hardest challenges advertisers face when expanding internationally is preparing their Shopping ads for a new language.
The goal is to enable a thriving retail ecosystem and Google believes that success should be mutual through partnerships. To that end, Google continues to partner with advertisers of all sizes, providing them with the tools, technology, and scale they need to thrive in today’s digital shopping world.
