Artificial intelligence can solve societies most challenging problems

As intelligent assistants, such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, and self-driving cars continue to grow in focus, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the duplication of human intelligence and activities by computer systems. It makes it possible for intelligent machines to act like humans.

In Governance, AI can play a major role in responsible and open governance. The government can benefit from AI and bring governance close to the people. The government can leverage machine learning algorithms to improve electioneering and reduce theft and corruption. It can help bring accountability, openness, and equity.

In Education, AI could change where and how our students learn for good. It can access students and adjust to their educational requirements. This approach can help students work and progress at their own pace. AI can provide extra support to students, to monitor their progression and make ensure students are on track.

In Agriculture, AI involves predictive analytics, which includes weather and climatic conditions forecasting, disaster prediction, crop analysis, rainfall analysis, and disease cycling. Some governments are already collaborating with private companies to develop an AI sowing mobile application, which includes machine learning. The app sends advisories to farmers to providing them with information on the optimal date to sow by sending them text messages on their phones.

In Defense and Law Enforcement, governments can explore AI in intelligence gathering, surveillance, cyber-defense, and risk terrain analysis. AI technology can offer cities safety through smart command centers with advanced surveillance systems that track people’s movement, potential crime incidents, and general security of the residents. Smart systems can analyze social media interactions and information to help law enforcement provide safety by predicting potential crimes that could disturb public harmony.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be of great usage in various fields, including finance, health care, legal matters, law enforcement, and even smart cities sanitation and cleanliness. As artificial intelligence technology continues to grow in significance and popularity, it is an important tool developing countries can benefit from immensely and use to advance their societies.
